EMAIL MARKETING IS DEAD
Bold statement isn't it but, given our experience, and a vast amount of research, we can certainly back it up.
In March 2008, we sent a 'free offer' email to 12000 opted in recipients and got over 4500 responses.
In March 2010, we sent out the same 'free offer' email to a totally different list (but the same demographics) of 14000 recipients and got 3 responses. WHY?
The answer is many-fold:- Our inbox gets rammed full of spam and crap every day so we are now geared towards immediate deletion. That's if they ever get through as ISPs are overly heavy handed as regards what they deem as unsolicited mail. Lastly, no-one believes what they read anymore.
So, if you have embarked upon, or are thinking of going for, email marketing then our advice is don't - you'd be better off facing a force 10 gale and having a wee.
LONG LIVE TELEMARKETING
We speak to people, we tell them what we've got, we listed to the answers. If our prospect has no need for what we've got, we will politely end the call and go on to the next.
